    Donald Trump, News, Politics

Donald Trump’s disrespect of America’s veterans has been well-documented throughout his botched presidency. Things have gotten so bad, that Republicans are now going on the record to let America know just how displeased and frustrated they are with him.

Trump’s latest f*ck up with the GOP is his horrific handling of the Veterans Administration, in which Trump impulsively nominated White House physician Ronny Jackson without even looking into his qualifications or background. While this shouldn’t really be much of a surprise considering that most of Trump’s administration is full of incompetent, unqualified people like the president himself, Republicans are disgusted that veterans will also be subjected to Trump’s bad decisions.

Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA), the chairman of the Senate’s Veterans Affairs Committee, had begged Trump not to get rid of VA Secretary David Shulkin, but of course Trump didn’t listen. Trump’s own chief of staff John Kelly and several other aides were further horrified by Trump’s appointment of Jackson to fill the role. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) spoke of the new VA appointment:

“I had my doubts from the beginning. To run an agency this big, with so much responsibility, you want to make sure you vet it properly … I’m not sure that was done here.”

Now more information has come out about Jackson’s past (such as workplace drinking and extremely unprofessional behavior) and the White House is beyond embarrassed. It seems that Trump is even regretting his decision. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) told Politico:

“The president says, ‘Oh yeah, I wouldn’t move forward with it.’ I mean, what does that say? If the president is going to put forward somebody’s name, he needs to have the confidence in that individual. And if it’s just like kind of a knee-jerk, here’s a warm body? Then his team needs to work to make sure that the president sees the short-sightedness of that.”

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) stated that the allegations against Jackson are serious and blasted Trump for not having a background investigation done before choosing Jackson to head the agency:

“If it is true, then that is a vetting mess.”

Once again, Trump’s impulsiveness and incompetence have led to a disastrous decision.
